The Kano Club

The Kano Club exists as an introduction for young children aged between 6 and 8 years, who under the advice of the British Judo Association medical commission are not allowed to partake in full contact contests. It is a mixed class, which encourages the young player to study the basic actions of Judo and refereeing terms, combined with fun packed exercises and games. Great emphasis is made that the techniques are only to be practised in the dojo (hall), and should not be used outside of the Club. The sessions last for approximately 60 minutes, and start at 6:30 p.m. on a Friday. The full details of the Club location and times can be found here. Parents or guardians are welcome to stay and watch.

Free use of Judo suits may be available on request for a trial period, a new suit can then be obtained through the Club, or alternatively from your local sports shop.

When the children become 8 years old, they are entitled to apply for a licence and attend the Junior Section.
